FUNDRAISING
CANHAVE CHILDREN'S CENTRE INC is a membership-based charity. Any individual who donates $25.00 a year becomes a member and has the right to vote at the Annual General Meeting and to receive the newsletter, The Clarion. CANHAVE sends a tax receipt for all donations of $10.00 or more.
CANHAVE organizes an Annual Fundraising Dinner to promote its achievements and to raise sufficient funds to meet the priorities approved each year by the Ugandan and Canadian Boards of Directors. Crafts and a silent auction supplement the income and diners enjoy music and entertainment with an African theme. In 2009, the Dinner will take place on Saturday, October 24, at Cathedral Hall.
Through personal contacts and presentations, CANHAVE has built a generous pool of donors and supporters, both individual and group.
Some supporters and groups have themselves organized events, the proceeds of which are shared with CANHAVE. Such events - exhibits, food fairs, birthday parties, dinners, bake sales - are wonderful examples of the generosity of donors who wish to support the education and care of children in Uganda.
More than 20 donors sponsor a child for $360.00 a year or $30.00 a month. This regular donation goes directly to the education and care of CANHAVE's children.
For the third year in a row, in 2010, Ann McLean of The Country Quilter donated a hand-quilted quilt so that CANHAVE may sell raffle tickets and promotes its work in Ottawa-area malls, farmers' markets and fairs. This year the quilt is a queen-size Chrysalis quilt in turquoise and light colours as the photo illustrates. For more information see the list of sales' venues on the home page.

In the courtyard of the Trade School in Kisubi, a mango tree illustrates the gratitude of Ugandans to those donors who have given generously and regularly to support the children.
