The 2011 CANHAVE Fundraising Dinner a Success!

CANHAVE's Annual Fundraising dinner, held on October 22, was a great success. We are so grateful for the increased support we have seen over the past few years. This support has resulted in our new and larger venue – the Centurion Center in Nepean.

The room was elegantly decorated with Ugandan colours and themes as guests dined on the following dinner:

~Appetizer~
Sambosa with lean ground beef flavoured with traditional African spice and served with Imli chutney

~Entree~
Breast of Chicken Supreme stuffed with spinach, mushroom and ricotta cheese
Vegetable medley of steamed asparagus, brocolli and carrots
Oven roasted potatoes

~Dessert~
"Dessert Duo" - Tuxedo Truffle Mousse and Strawberry Shortcake

We sincerely thank Adrian Harewood of CBC News for serving as Master of Ceremonies. His professional and charming management of the evening’s events was a big reason many in attendance are already looking forward to next year’s event.

We were also treated to lively performances by the SIFA Choir and members of Cheza. The SIFA Choir performed traditional a cappella African and original songs to enthusiastic response. Later in the evening Cheza performed more modern African songs and some guests were inspired to hit the dance floor.

All-in-all the evening of wonderful food, inspiring music, interesting silent auctions and warm friendship was an unqualified success. And CANHAVE measures success by how your generosity can be turned into scholastic success for our children in Uganda. On their behalf, we thank you!
